The difference between Movie clip and Graphic symbols is that movie clip symbols have their own independent timeline while Graphic symbols has each frame of their internal timeline bound to the main timeline. You can change a movie clip symbols instance name but can't change the instance name for a graphic symbol. Movie clip symbols have the ability of using 3D position and view, color effects, Display, and Accessibility while Graphic symbols can only use looping position and view, color affects, and looping.
